Executive Update

From our CEO Jeanne Duncan.

  • Fortunate that there was no loss of life of persons-supported or our staff.
  • We're so lucky to have such dedicated staff that worked long hours
  • Working to ensure staff are safe, sheltered.  We used many of our locations as staff shelter.
  • We're working to help staff impacted get the resources they need to recover.
  • We want staff to be safe!  Stay away from flooded roads.
  • Working with MCOs regarding funding for costs related to the storm.
  • Working to get offices/services up-and-running safely.

Safety Updates

  • Beware of continual flooding – National Weather Service's Southeast River Forecast Center: Includes information on current and expected flooding.
  • Work with your Administrator or Director to take pictures of damage, send to Angela Pace at apace@rhanet.org.  Will help with recovery.
  • Thanks to our Administrators and Directors that proactively put their Emergency Operations plans to work.

Can RHA Units Organize To Help With Hurricane Relief?

Many have asked if RHA staff can band together to help those impacted by Hurricane Florence.

First, understand that RHA isn’t set up to be a disaster relief organization.  We encourage those wanting to help others to donate money and supplies to the American Red Cross and other such organizations.

That said, units CAN work to help staff impacted by the hurricane.  But there are guidelines to ensure we stay ethical and adhere to relevant laws and RHA policy.  According to RHA' Solicitation Policy, units can gather donations of money and supplies.

Key Solicitation Policy Areas To Follow:

  • Your unit's Administrator or Director must approve these efforts.  Each local unit has to ‘own’ this process.
  • Any communications (emails, flyers, etc.) must state “Approved by RHA Administrator or Director”
  • Personal information about those being helped (health, financial, personal, address, etc.) will be kept confidential.

Can staff donate PTO time to another emloyee?

  • Unfortunately, staff cannot donate PTO time.  Our policy and systems simply do not support this.

Make Your Conference Calls Safer To Call Into With This Tip!
If you schedule conference calls, there’s something you can do to make it easy and safe for those calling in from a mobile phone.

When you follow this format, your attendee can simply press the number, and all the dialing will happen automatically with one tap.

Recommendation

  • Phone number, 3 commas, the Participant code, and #.
  • Example:  123-456-7890,,,9876543#
    • 123-456-7890 - Places the call
    • ,,, - Gives the system the pause to connect
    • 9876543# - Participant code is then dialed automatically from a mobile phone.
