Below is information on federal programs to assist our employees paying for their education.

National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Loan Repayment Program

Click here to receive the announcement for when the application window for the NHSC Loan Repayment Program opens for qualified RHA employees.

  • In the summers of 2015 , many RHA behavioral health units became approved sites for the National Health Service Corps.
  • Certain mental/behavioral health clinicians can get between $25,000 - $50,000 to repay their health profession student loans in exchange for a two-year commitment to work at an approved NHSC site in a high-need, underserved area.
  • This means certain BH employees in under-served counties may be able to receive loan forgiveness, given they meet the requirements of the program.
  • As of 2019, RHA employees working at a NHSC site have had their full tuition paid off by this program!

Factors for RHA Employees to Consider:
  • Employees are encouraged employees to apply as soon as the application window opens, to improve the chance of being funded.
  • Employees working in multiple counties should only apply if the primary site they work out of is listed (below).
  • The application window and approval timeline is determined by the Federal government.
  • Employees will be notified of approval between late spring-late summer.  This all depends on federal process and funds.
